Paul retired from U.S. federal service in January 2020 with 37 years’ experience as an engineer and program manager. The first 20 years were with the Department of Defense in the Nondestructive Inspection field procuring NDI equipment for inspecting US Navy aircraft. The last 17 years were with the Federal Aviation Administration where he led the FAA’s SHM research program as a research engineer. His research program led to the first approved use of SHM on U.S. civil aircraft. He currently works for Diakon Solutions supporting the FAA’s SHM program and owns his own consulting firm for SHM issues. Paul has over 25 years working with Nondestructive Inspection equipment. He has a BSME from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Paul has a number of published papers on SHM and NDI.
