Alex Melton

Manager Quality Control - Nondestructive Testing, Delta Air Lines

Alex Melton currently works as Manager of Quality Control Nondestructive Testing Programs.  His responsibilities include acting as Responsible Level III, oversight of Delta’s internal Nondestructive Testing Program, developing and implementing Nondestructive inspections across Airframe, Engines and Components for Delta’s in-service fleet and MRO operations.  Prior to his 16 years at Delta, Alex worked for Northwest Airlines for 14 years in similar capacities.

He was a member of the teams which were named the 2009, 2012, 2014, and 2017 FAA-A4A “Better Way Award” (now Airlines for America / SAE NDT Innovation Award) Winners for accomplishments in NDT.

He is currently Vice Chair of SAE’s Committee K Nondestructive Methods, and member of the Commercial Aircraft Composite Repair Committee (CACRC) Inspection Task Group.  Currently serving as Vice Chairman on A4A’s NDT Network having served 4 years as Chairman.

ASNT (American Society for Nondestructive Testing) Level III certified in Penetrant, and Magnetic Particle Inspection.
